Alexis had a one-time-only dance performance the other day.
The Durand Dance Team held a dance clinic for select grades to see who was interested, and talented enough, for future dance.
Kayla was bummed because she couldn't dance. She hung out with Paige behind me while they rehearsed though.
They practiced on Tuesday for about 3 hours and then did their routine on Thursday during the basketball game.
There were probably about 25 girls there, ranging from 5 to 12 I would say. It was loud during rehearsal.
They kept themselves entertained by practicing technique and then winding down with a game of "Duck Duck Dance", and in which the person who lost had to perform a dance move. It was cute.
Corey and the other kids and I watched the basketball game until half-time, then out came the dancers.
They all did fairly well, a few stood out, and of the ones that performed the best, the majority were already enrolled in some sort of dance class.
It was late night, but well worth it. Alexis did well, and she had fun.
Now she's asking to take dance class. Oh boy, better start looking for one around here that's not going to rip my arms and legs off to pay for it. :)

Kit-Kat Bars
A couple posts ago, I had a check-list. In that list, I had mentioned I made homemade kit-kat like bars. Well, my mother has been begging me for the recipe, so here it is!
Cruchy-Chocolate-Peanut Stix
So yummy! I love how easy they was, and Paige liked how she got to help! She mainly did the lining with the crackers and the stirring of the caramel, but it was help enough.
Her teacher said that I needed to make them again, and that several students requested the recipe. That sounds like a winner to me!
Oh, and since I neglected to take pictures of the experience, like a doh-head, I will try to remember next time!

Stars
Kayla is doing pretty well, considering. She's in good spirits, her attitude is awesome, she's not in much pain at all.
What does pain my munchkin? She can't play yet. She can play quietly, but she can't PLAY. She'll be happy soon.
What made it easier is the day before her surgery, she got to be a little star! Well, all the kids got to be stars.
The fundraiser they did a few months ago earned each of them a ride in a limo.
Not just any limo, a white stretch Hummer limo.
I got to ride along and get pictures for the school! Bonus! But, I didn't get to ride on Kayla's, they already had someone volunteered for that. If I would have known, I would have volunteered. Rar.
Here are a few pics for ya!
Kayla's class, she the one in the pink pants :)
Brady's class, he's the one in the middle with the black jacket above, and the smiley one below.
Alexis and Walker's class. Walker is the 6th kid and Alexis is the 3rd to last.
Walker at the end on the left, Lex closer on the right .
Lex in the pink smiling.
The bummer was that the shots inside the limo didn't turn out very well since the partition was down and there was tons of sun coming in. That's okay, it was a mice experience.
Oh, and Paige isn't in any pictures because she didn't want to ride in the limo. It was her birthday and she said she wanted to stay at school with her friends. We let her make that choice.

Brave Bug
Today was the big day.
The day we've been waiting for.
Kayla had her adenoids taken out this morning and tubes put in her ears.
She was scared, but everything turned out really well.
It's a good thing we had it done, the doctor said her adenoids were fairly large and they were crimping her Eustachian tubes so they wouldn't drain, which was the source of the majority of her ear problems.
Now she's with her daddy and her grandma, getting lots of popsicles and cottage cheese. She's not happy about not being able to play for a couple weeks, but she'll get there.
I know she's in good hands, but I'm very sad that I'm not with her right now. My baby had surgery today, and I was there for it, but I feel disconnected from her right now since I'm not the one caring for her at the moment. *sigh*
I know all will be okay, just having a little pity-party for myself. Sad Mama Moment.
I'll leave you with a few pictures she let me take.
Bug with her Grandma Ziegler
Bug with her cool hairnet
Very sleepy after the valium, getting ready to go into surgery
Me and Bug
Post-surgery, still sleeping.
She'll be sore for a little while, but we know it will be worth it. There should be less ear issues, better hearing, better volume control on Kayla's speech, and better sleep with less snoring.

Check.
Homemade KitKat-like bars made for Paige's birthday snack for Thursday?
